This weeks news, and a give away winner.

Hello September! This means it's only two weeks until the next Handmade Market in Stockport. We'll be there again with some new stock, including something pretty made up with this fabric and trim.

The end of the Summer hols and the beginning of the school year are just days away now, and my juggling of Flossie's Garden alongside all my other commitments is going to get much more difficult, but hey I like a challenge!!

Time also to announce the winner of the give away for the Flossie's Garden cut and sew pinnie kit. We had 28 entries including all comments from the blog and Facebook, plus all likes and shares. I used Random.org to pick a winner, and that lucky person is Stella Raven, who I have already contacted.
Thank you to everyone for taking part, I wish I had 28 prizes to give away!

Give Away?

Completed Dress from cut and sew fabric

The Flossie's Garden Pinafore cut and sew kit is now available to buy from the Etsy store. (0-6mths)
The kit includes:
One yard of cotton poplin printed with all the fabric pieces printed out ready to cut and sew, with all instructions printed right there on the fabric.
One reel of gutermann sew all thread in white.
Two buttons. (these might differ from the ones pictured below)

The fabric also includes a printed border, so you can make matching bootees, bunting, or anything else that takes your fancy. (I'll be posting some ideas soon, and a tutorial or two.)

The kit costs £22.50 from the Etsy store, and makes a great gift.

Alternatively, the fabric can be bought by the yard directly from Spoonflower, that way you get to choose the fabric it's printed on. I like the cotton poplin, but why not try it in one of the other choices? (just click the photo above of the fabric or the linkie over there to the right)

Or how about entering this give away for a kit?
Just leave me a comment here, telling me who you'd like to sew this little dress for, or who you'd like to gift the kit to.
For a second chance of winning, please comment, like and share on our Facebook too.
This give away will be open for one week, closing 31st August, and a winner will then be chosen at random.org.

The Market

Yesterday at The Handmade Market was fun. Unfortunately a rainy day in late August didn't exactly encourage the crowds, but I had some very enthusiastic responses to my stall, met some lovely fellow stall holders, check out Woad Butterfly , Lucy had some gorgeous items for sale. I treated myself to one of her embroidered needle cases.

I'm going to be there again next month, and following some tips from other stall holders might venture to some other locations in and around the North West.

Oh, and despite the lack of customers I still managed to raise £10 for SANDs.

Balancing work and play

Untitled

Preparing for the Handmade Market and also entertaining five children over the summer holidays is quite a balancing act, and one I'm not entirely sure I'm balancing all that well.
Only two more days before the Market, and I'm getting quite excited. The ready made stock is piling up nicely.

I'm afraid my fabrics may not arrive in time for this month's market, which is a shame, never give up hope though!

Special Occasion Gowns

I adore antique baby gowns, as any of my friends unfortunate enough to go vintage shopping with me will tell you. I love the feel of the fine cotton, and often have to restrain myself from buying every one I see, though maybe one day I could just collect them and start up a little museum....
Inspired by antique baby gowns, I've designed these simple, but I hope you'll agree beautiful gowns for new born babies.
Each one is made using Flossie's Garden fabrics, mostly fine cotton lawn, (which I think has now been replaced by Spoonflower with cotton voile).

I have also added some short tunics, which could be teamed with soft woollen footed leggings and cardigan, or if you are lucky enough to live in a warm climate little cotton bloomers.

Play Quilt

I have finally made up my original "cheater" quilt. I'm really rather pleased with it, and plan to take it to the Handmade Market on 19th, where it will dress my table, but also be for sale at a special "sample" price of £30.

The quilt top is Spoonflower's Quilting cotton, the reverse is a delightful pastel dotty polycotton. There is a lightweight polyester fleece padding, and cotton binding.
Perfect for tummy time for any baby.
This quilt top is in the original colourway, no longer available and not to be repeated. A lovely faded pastel colourway, perfect for any vintage inspired nursey.
10% of the sale price will be donated to SANDs in memory of my daughter Florence Violet.

And if you'd like to have a go at making your own "cheater" quilt, take a look at the new colourway:

Still Here!

Woah, it's been a while!
I didn't intend to take such a long break from here, life sort of took over. I've been so very busy with other projects, including The Sling School, and setting up as a registered childminder. My days are full of busy toddlers, and working with parents and their babies. That hasn't left much room for designing and sewing.
Despite all that though, I'm back, and breaking myself in gently (ha!), I'll be at the Stockport Handmade and Producers Market on 19th August.

I'll have dresses, and dungies, and trousers, and bootees, and even some of my fabrics on sale including the Flossie's Pinafore cut and sew kit.
I hope all my local readers will pop along and stop me looking like a billy no mates on the day.
